That is the amount of every dollar that goes to programs. In our field this is a remarkably high percentage that represents exceptionally low administrative costs.
One special ingredient in making this possible is our volunteers. Last year 1,140 volunteers provided 5,819.5 hours. In terms of cost that is like hiring three extra staff. But impact-wise, it is more like hiring 50 because volunteers are available at strategic times. Volunteers are the only reason we can sort and distribute 8,000 lbs. of food and give a listening ear and prayer to 400 families every week.
